Sherborne Castle

Built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594 and home to the Digby family since 1617, Sherborne Castle is set in 40 acres of beautiful lakeside gardens created by 'Capability' Brown.

Within the castle there are decorative styles reflecting Tudor, Jacobean, Georgian and Victorian periods of English history and there are fine collections of art, furniture and porcelain to be seen.

Visitors can also see Raleigh's kitchen and many family artefacts and items from the old castle. There is also a tea room and gift shop.

The town of Sherborne is also worth visiting with its many medieval buildings and magnificent Abbey dating from AD705.
