The Tank Museum

The Tank Museum

Home to the world's largest and finest collection of Armoured Fighting Vehicles, the Museum has a collection of almost 300 vehicles from over 26 countries from World War 1 right up to the present day.

These include the oldest fighting tank in the world (the Mark I from 1916), an armoured Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, the Sherman Tank from World War II, the Chieftain Tank (the main British battle tank of the seventies and eighties), a number of Iraqi vehicles captured during the 1991 Gulf War and several experimental vehicles which never quite made it into regular use.

In addition to the vehicles, there is a large medal display giving visitors access to the museum's entire medal collection, a Lawrence of Arabia display and a large small arms collection. Regular special events are staged at the museum and many of them show the tanks in action, sometimes with mock battles.

Other facilities at the museum include the licensed Gauntlet Restaurant, an outdoor play area and a large model, book and gift shop.
