Anything Goes with the Any-A-Thon!

Bournemouth Rotaract Club invites you to get involved in our biggest event of the year!

Join our sponsored walk, the Any-A-Thon, which takes place at Bournemouth Pier Head on Saturday 7th May 12-5pm. This special event raises essential funds for local Children’s Hospice Julia’s House, Poole, Dorset. 

Bournemouth Rotaract Club is a voluntary organisation for 18-30 year olds which organises and takes part in a variety of charity fundraisers and community projects, providing personal development and social opportunities for all club members. 

The team at Julia’s House are dedicated to making the most of the short and precious lives of children who are seriously ill and unlikely to live beyond the age of 18. This year, it needs to raise £2.8million. With only about 8% of this coming from government funding, the rest of the charity’s essential income is raised through the generosity of people like you. So why not take part? A fun day out whilst making a significant difference to the lives of local children.

The Any-A-Thon is a sponsored walk with a difference. Anyone of any age or ability can take part. You can travel by any means, covering any distance, starting from anywhere, or an official start point. Methods of travel can be as simple or as inventive as possible – walk, run, cycle, skate, sail… the possibilities are endless! How about fancy dress?! There is a 10% discount for anyone who hires at Alter Ego for this event. 

All you have to do is raise a minimum sponsorship of £5 to wear an event t-shirt and make your way to Bournemouth Pier Head between 12 and 5pm to register your money and enjoy the variety of entertainment along the pier head, seafront and gardens. Official starting points are: 12:30pm at Coy Pond, 1pm at Boscombe Pier, 1:30pm at Alum Chine, where you will receive your t-shirt if you’ve pre-registered. 

We encourage our participants to have as much fun as possible - why not conga your way to the pier head? Set yourself a challenge and have a three-legged race, form the largest group or set a target of raising the most money! Go wild with fancy dress or get fit and see how much distance you can cover. The choice is yours! 

There will be fun guaranteed with entertainment including a performance from Bournemouth Carnival Band, Liberty Owl and Raptor Display, face painters, circus performers, sand sculpting and sandcastle competition, arts, crafts, live music and lots more!
