Diverse Abilities Plus

Providing a lifetime of opportunities and support for people with disabilities in Dorset

Diverse Abilities Plus works with hundreds of people in Dorset to help meet the needs of people of all ages with physical and/or learning disabilities.

The charity provides a range of vital support and services for children and adults with disabilities, many of which are profound or complex. We’re different because we endeavour to be a ‘lifetime partner’ – working with individuals and their families throughout every stage of their lives to empower them and offer the best level of assistance, support and education.

Diverse Abilities Plus services for children include:
o Langside School - specialist day school for children aged 2-19 with profound physical and learning disabilities.
Shapes - domiciliary care at home to help support families.
Smithers - overnight and short stay residential home providing a home-from-home for children and welcome respite for families.
Project My Time - fun holiday activities for young people with disabilities

Diverse Abilities Plus services for adults include:
Barnabas - day opportunities centre where adults with disabilities can socialise and acquire skills.
Supported Living – up to 24/7 support to enable adults with disabilities to live in their own home.

At Diverse Abilities Plus, we believe there’s a lot more to a person than the label they happen to have. That’s why we work with children and adults with a huge range of physical and learning disabilities, giving them the opportunities they need to reach their full potential.

We can’t do this without your support. For information about how you can help give people the chances they need, by giving a donation, fundraising or helping raise awareness, please contact us today.
