Blue Pool

The Blue Pool

Between Wareham and Corfe Castle exists a beautiful oasis of peace and tranquility. The Blue Pool at Furzebrook, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, is unique in that it was once a claypit and tiny particles of clay within the water cause it to continually change colour depending on how the light catches it.

The pool is surrounded by 25 acres of heathland which is home to squirrels, rabbits, badgers and deer. Visitors can wander at will and the lucky ones may even spot a Dartford Warbler or Green Sand Lizard.

There is a tea-room serving morning coffee, light snacks and cream teas, a museum illustrating the early history of clay mining in the area and a gift shop and plant centre.
